BIOS Advanced Settings Black Screen

Wanted to update my BIOS to the latest version before upgrading my CPU. When I try to go into advanced settings from the main BIOS dash, my screen goes black. I've tried waiting it out but nothing changes and I'm forced to hard reset the system. Have no idea why and haven't found any solutions via Google.

My mobo is an ASUS Z87-K with BIOS version 1103 for reference

Are you using a monitor, or tv? What ports? Is it the same if removing the graphics card and connecting the monitor to the onboard?
