Bios can't detect SSD

Hi

I have bought a new build base unit with a Gigabyte z210 motherboard a 1tb 7200 hard drive and a 240g SSD.

I've booted the system up and it seems w10 is not yet installed and so I've gone to create a fresh install.

However windows could only detect the 1tb hard drive. I've gone into the bios and the SSD is not showing. There is a third option (after the cd rom) but it says disabled.

Any ideas guys as to how I can enable the SSD?

1st is this an SATA or M.2 SSD ?
2nd did you check your cabling to the SSD to be on SATA _1 and your TBV HDD on SATA _2 or M.2 Slot 1 and HDD in SATA _2 Leaving 1 open
3rd did you check power to the SSD is properly inserted ?
lastly, Gigabyte doesn't have a z210 motherboard, could you provide proper model for your gigabyte Motherboard (with Bios Version please)

Sorry it's a z270. I have the drives set up as SATA drives looking at it.

The bios version is f3 I believe.

Removing the data cable for the had made no difference. I just could only see the cd rom and a disabled device (the ssd I assume.

yes your gigabyte motherboard is a z270 but what model, I am trying to find the manual for your bios, please advise, probably has a switch to be turns into bios to recognize ssd most likely.

It's a z270-gaming k3. Also has LGA 1151 on the box. Does that help?

just to cover a few bases to make sure we are talking the same language

on this page, on the graphic are SATA connectors identified in # 7 and #8, where did you plug your SSD into the cluster # 7 or #8 ?

Your SSD drive should be in sata 0 on connector identified as #8 SATA 6GB/S
your HDD drive should be in sata 1 on the same block of connectors

so far we are on the same page ?

It's a Intenso ssd 240gb Drive

I believe it's on sata 0 but not 100% sure I'm reading this right.

The ssd seems to be on the bottom connection closest to the side of the cpu

And yes the standard hard drive sits on top of the ssd connection

if it is in that place, when in bios does it recognize the drive after you make sure the mode for drives is ahci not ide ..

It's in ahci but still not recognised

Might it be an idea to just install on hdd and then update the bios to see if that helps?

have you tried using the hdd sata cable and reverse the hdd and sdd in cable to see if the hdd is recognized as sata 0 and maybe sata 1 recognize the SSD ?

If I may interject, are you sure the SSD is not dead?

It has occurred to me that's the case.

The pc has started beeping 4 or 5 times on start up now but otherwise seems fine.

I tried to download the gigabyte app centre to update the bios etc (using the standard hard drive) but the install keep failing.

Starting to get abbot worried!
