Bios chassis temp

hello,
i am not sure if this is the right place for this but when I control my fan speed from the motherboard (ASUS m5a97 pro) it shows a higher and lower temp. the lower temp is locked at 40'C the default for the higher temp it 70'C. On the side of the screen it explains it a bit and says that the temp is the chassis temp.
what is this temperature?

What you are seeing is the setup for controlling the fan speed at the lower temp the fan runs at a slower speed the higer the temp goes the faster the fan speed will be you are able to set the "high" tepm up or down as to your needs. The higer fan speed will make more fan noise.
