Hi all,
The short version of my questions is; are there any alternate ways to access BIOS setup other than at start up? Or, can I boot DBAN without using BIOS to change start up priority?
Long version;
I had a ridiculous trojan (Ironically gained from avast) which typed funny things to me and apparently did nothing else. Still, I went through a system reset, reinstalled windows 8, deleted and reformatted partitions etc. and still had the trojan. Didn't reintroduce any saved files or backups.
Next port of call was to over-write all information on my harddrive using DBAN. Burned it to a disc, excellent. Need to configure BIOS to boot from disc? Not so excellent.
BIOS has never opened on my computer. When I use my BIOS keys (F2 or DEL) I am presented with an eternal black screen. I have a custom computer, and my motherboard is a ASUS B85M-G. I will lose my warranty on my computer if I open it up so I'd prefer other solutions if possible!
Using F8 I can bring up the 'please select boot device' menu. No clue what that does but it's there.
And I don't know too much about computers myself so I don't understand tech talk very well. Whatever you can offer would be helpful.
