Installed a different CPU, but now on start-up at the end of BIOS doing its thing, there is a 10-second countdown, then the PC starts.
It does say press any key to continue, which I do. I have tried everything, but nothing stops the countdown.

This did not happen with previous CPU's. The problem has nothing to do with the other countdown, which you can get rid of in regedit regarding disk scanning.
Any ideas......... :giggle:

An old PC, LGA775 ASUS clockable MB, it has had quite a few CPU's in its time, with no real problem. The previous CPU was an E8500 clocked to 3.75, the latest is an Xeon E5450, clocked to 3.60, works great.
It had one of those before with no problem, got stuffed by a PSU failure.
I have tried the CPU at stock settings, same problem.

The board has ASUS live update, though the BIOS does say something about update, I put it down to age, because it said that with the old CPU.
