I have an HP DV7-3024CA that the screen looks wonky on it. Sometimes I get the caps lock flashing twice. Anything I read online said it might be a corrupt BIOS. Problem is, I can't locate that model on the HP website, not find the BIOS file for it. Does anyone have the BIOS file or any tips on how to fix it?

P.S. Cleaned the RAM, and even swapped RAM so I know RAM isn't the issue.

Solution
Test external monitor first, i think it was fn+f4 to switch between monitors, look symbols on F keys.

Also try bios recovery if you still get bad screen with external monitor : https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

Also try to remove the "cmos battery" its round 3.3v battery, take it off completely and then try to start the laptop. (probably not this but try still its so long ago i fixed these laptops)

Thing is i remember these dv6 dv7 laptops and it might be either gpu / northbridge chip failing or bios error.
Caps lock blinking twice is "bios corruption" (look computers before 2015): https://support.hp.com/hr-en/document/c01732674
But this doesnt mean its not failing chip, you know after trying to recover...

can you push F2 to get into BIOS ?

Does an external monitor show the same effect?

Did you replace the display?

EDIT
maybe this is the BIOS
https://drivers.eu/Notebooks/HP/Pavilion dv7-3024ca/BIOS

I can get into the BIOS. As for the external monitor, I hadn't thought of trying that yet. I shall try that and see what I get. As for replacing the display, trying to avoid that if I can, as anything I'm reading the screen itself is fine. I guess to use that BIOS, I would have to be able to get into Windows and see it. I'll check if I can do the display. I did have the display working ok for a bit yesterday, but then it went back to what you see in the picture.

i guess you tried to remove battery and power cable then press power button 20seconds then try to start with only power cable connected?

Ok, so I have some weird things going on..... Last night, the screen seemed to be working fine, so I reinstalled Windows. Last night, I left it to do it's updates. This morning, I turned on the laptop (as it was in sleep mode) and the screen wouldn't turn on. I turned it off again, turned it on again, and nothing on the screen. Tried plugging in an external monitor, nothing (guessing because the driver hasn't been installed yet). Before doing the updates last night, I tried the fn+F4 and it said something about it not being able to project due to no driver available. Also tried the bios file, but it only had the flash utility, the other .sys file couldn't be extracted.

I'll see if I can get the screen to come up again to at least do a bios recovery, if I can. Thinking it may be the ribbon or chip though. I did try the CMOS battery removal, but no change.

1. When you plugin external monitor (vga or hdmi port) you should get screen right after booting (sometimes need key combination depending on model. This has nothing to do with "drivers installed" and you get image in bios example not only operating system.

2. Easiest test for gpu is to "heat" the laptop before trying to boot, you can wrap it in blanket and cover holes where heatsink connects to, then boot it up and wait like 5-10min and let it heat up. Then restart the laptop.
You should temporarily boot fine this time this would confirm its problem either inside gpu / northbridge chip and heat expansion makes it work for few time.

Ended up taking it apart after seeing how many issues there were with the laptop, and that even if I fixed it, it would probably still give me issues. Better for spare parts.
