I have the Sapphire R9800 Pro 128mb. Do I have to use the sapphire BIOS or can I use one from another company. They only Sapphire Bios I saw was for Sapphire was an XT lite. If i must use the Sapphire BIOS, can I use that Bios then overclock my card manually?

Before you flash you want to see what core and ram you have one your card.If you have a 350 core i would say do flash it.With a 360 core you should be artifact free. You will also want to see if you have samsung or hynix ram and get bois made for your ram.And any bois will work you dont need a sapphire bois.

You can use a BIOS from a different manufacturer as long as the type of RAM is the same. Im also using a sapphire 9800pro with hynix RAM and I have flashed to the XT BIOS. Check out page2 of the thread above. IT will show you where to get a suitable BIOS.

do i have to physically check the core to check whether its 350/360, as well as teh ram to see if its hynix or samsung?

Is there any software that can check.

Also, to check the core, don't i have to take the heatsink/fan off?

Thanks again.

Yup you will have to do all that and if your looking to do a xt flash you will want to buy better cooling.

Just like PukePile said, you have to remove the HSF from the GPU and clean the compund off to see if it is the r350 or r360. You gonna need better HSF anyways since the flash will dump more juice to the GPU and work faster. Id get the VGA Silencer to keep that cool and plus it vents the heat outside the case.
