I am about to build new PC with AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, MSI B450 Gaming Plus motherboard, 8 GB DDR4 3000MHz RAM, Nvedia GT 710 graphic card (my old Graphic card).

I have used SanDisk 16 GB usb 3.0 pendrive (fat32 file system) with latest BIOS downloaded from MSI website (version 7B86v1B, release date 30-Aug-2019) & renamed it to MSI.ROM in pendrive.

I am using Corsair VS650 PSU.

I connected 24 pin ATX power supply & 8 Pin CPU power connector. I have not connected Processor & RAM on motherboard.
I have not switched on power supply.

I connected usb drive next to flashback button & pressed flashback button, but I am not getting red colour bios flesh light on motherboard.

Please help me.

Should I use 2 ,4 or 8 GB USB 2.0 pendrive?

Should I switch on power supply before pressing flashback button? ( Is it safe to switch on power supply to motherboard without processor & ram installed)

Or can I use flashbacks button with CPU & ram installed and power on to motherboard?

You need to turn on the power supply.

Thanks.

I successfully updated my BIOS to latest version.

As you mentioned I switched on Power supply & then pressed BIOS flashback button. (Without installing Processor & RAM)
It took about 4 minute to complete flashback process.

My Question
Should I use 2 ,4 or 8 GB USB 2.0 pendrive?
BIOS flashback worked with USB 3.0 16GB pendrive.
I did it with SanDisk Ultra Dual 16GB USB 3.0 OTG Pen Drive.

Then i proceeded by installing AMD Ryzen 3700x.

Now AMD 3rd generation processor is working on my MSI B450 Gaming Plus motherboard.
