Dumbell

Check the mobo manual.. you may have to manually set dip switches on the
board..

CPU size ?

Why is your CPU 3 inches too big ?

Do you really mean CPU speed ?

What is the make and manufacturer of the system and motherboard ?

You would think if he had a CPU size problem then it wouldn't fit in the slot or ZIF socket
:)

You should ask your motherboard manufacturer what to do. Are you
sure that your motherboard even supports the new CPU you added?
You can't always just install a faster CPU.

Perhaps try contacting the motherboard manufacturer for assistance.
Windows XP (which is what this group is about) isn't part of the problem.

Asking imprecise or incomplete information doesn't help you to get the best answers. There
is no such criteria as "CPU size".
Now answer the questions posed to you "dumbell" so you may get the best response.

And questions like yours should have never been posted in this group
in the first place. Your BIOS and CPU interactions have nothing to do
with XP.

Only if the bios upgrade file actually addresses that specific issue.

Usually you check first if your motherboard supports a faster CPU. This
information can be obtained from your motherboard maker website, where, of
course, you can get the BIOS upgrade, if necessary. (And sometimes, this
website will even give you the tool to make a DOS start-up disk.)

You installed a faster CPU without the necessary research, and therefore,
nobody can really answer your question because flashing a BIOS is "risky
business." That is, nobody really wants to be blamed if your computer is
"totaled" after flashing your BIOS.

So, please keep your cool because it will not solve anything.

For more assistance on flashing your BIOS, please visit either the Unicore
or the Award-BIOS websites.

address

Are we on the MLB playoffs already? It appears this newsgroup is
experiencing "The Curse of The Bambino Part 2." Or, is it "The Revenge of
The Pigs?"

Easy now, Dumbell, I am talking about baseball.
