(i went to BIOS settings, and the clicking sound in the background isn't coming from the computer)

After normal usage the screen suddenly went grey. Ctrl+alt+del didn't work, and the keyboard probably didn't work either (I pressed Caps Lock but the little indicator on the keyboard didn't change.)
I did a hard reboot (pressing and holding the power button), and after starting it up again the BIOS screen and all subsequent screens were glitched. When the windows 7 logon screen was supposed to appear, the screen went black and the PC became unresponsive. After several reboots the issue was resolved on its own, but after cca. 20 minutes the same problem came up again.

Neither the monitor nor the cable seem to be the problem: I've tried VGA and HDMI on my monitor and on my TV and they both show the same glitch pattern.
This leaves the PC itself, and after a quick google search I think the problem might be faulty RAM.

What do you people think is causing this?

specs if needed:
CPU: i5 2320 3.0 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6790
Motherboard: Gygabyte GA-P61-DS3-B3
RAM: Kingmax something something 2x4 GB
PSU: RS-500-PCAP-A3
HDD: western digital

Is there a way to test whether the GPU is the culprit?
How urgent is this fix? If it resolves itself and i continue to use the PC as usual, do I run the risk of damaging other components if the GPU fails?

I'd suspect your GPU as well based on description and video, but you would need another to test for 100%. Like mentioned above, system wouldn't cause this. I would look into a replacement soon, or borrow one if possible to test. In general, if the GPU is the problem, sooner or later you won't have a functional PC. Also, its possible the hard locks and hard reboots using power button could cause data corruption to your OS install causing further problems.
