Like I said, the BIOS appears to have no option to over clock the computer, the RazerBlade was advertised to be able to overclock to 2.9 GHz so I would assume this wasn't an intended function.

You're probably just thinking of the Core i7's Turbo feature. The i5 and i7 processors have this feature that increases the clock speed according to TDP and how many cores are utilized. I believe for your model, the i7 will boost from the stock 2.2GHz, to 2.9GHz with 4 cores, 3GHz with 3 cores, 3.1GHz with 2 cores, and a full 3.2GHz when only one core is being utilized/temperatures permit. It would help to list your exact processor, but regardless, this is probably what you're thinking of.
