I am about to install an A7V the manual recomends that you save the exsisting bios and then flash to the most recent version. My question is... Is there a benifit to doing the bios update first off before installing windows, or is it best to just use the bios it comes with setup everything then go back and update the bios. would love to know before i dig myself into a hole. thanks.

If you Overclock an Intel Processor fast enough, it will turn into an AMD. True Story.

Ya got yerself a nice board there...

I don't think it really matters if you do it before or after. As long as you do it.

I did it after, fyi, and everyting worked out fine./

please don't update you bios from windows. I have heard this can do very bad things.

You can back up your bios but you can also just download every version from the web.

Win 2k and NT do have a DOS prompt. It may not be the full blown DOS but it does work. Instead of typing "command" from the run prompt, type "cmd" from the run prompt. Hope this helps.

dont flash your bios from windows, it can be really bad, download this program and run onto a floppy and boot up with it. this is a dos substitute for win2000. http://www.bootdisk.com/drdfiles/drdflash.exe

If at first you don't succede, skydiving isn't for you.

UMM DUH!!!!!!!!
but the point was it was stated that flashing from windows was bad ....a command prompt in windows is the same as running it in windows ? ehh no ?

My point was it works fine in windows and the manufacturer recommends this as they include ONLY that flash util on the MOBO CD.
