Hello, so I'm posting this on behalf of a friend.

He was unextracting a file on his desktop and apparently his computer froze and he went to restart it and it would get stuck on the gigabyte screen. He unplugged his SSD and re-plugged it in to make sure it was working, he then went into his boot options and noticed his SSD wasn't showing up (his SSD has windows on it) and he isn't able to turn on his PC or anything due to the SSD isn't showing up.

Any suggestions I can tell him to help him fix his issue?

Greatly appreciated.

Get in touch with the SSD manufacturer and check your warranty. You might be able to RMA it and get a replacement.
You can determine that the problem is with the SSD if you plug it in another computer. If it still doesn't get recognized, then it's the faulty component for sure.

Good luck!

Hey there, iSmithy!

This is very unfortunate. I'd suggest you and your friend to try swapping the SATA cables, because the one you are using for the SSD might be failing.
Make sure that the SATA controller is enabled in BIOS as well.
Another thing to attempt to resolve this is to reset your BIOS. Here's a link with 3 ways to do that: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS

Keep me posted! Hope this works for you! :)

His unplugged all his harddrives and only left his SSD plugged in and it shows up in the boot options but upon making it's first pro. he gets
Code:
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key
when trying to start up the computer.

Well at least it shows up. But apparently its not bootable - Windows is corrupted.

Boot into Safe Mode (F8 per http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode#1TC=windows-7) and try Computer Repair. If that doesn't work then try Last Known Good Configuration (system restore). If that doesn't work then reinstall Windows.

Apparently it keeps going up and down and doesn't show at all. Any ideas?
