Hello,
I am trying to recover a HP PC that wont load windows vista - it hangs at the "windows is loading files" screen. During the BIOS bootup messages at the start I notice it displays the memory config stating that "memory bank 1 not installed" yet there is 1024MB in each subsequent memory banks 2,3 & 4 (3GB in total). I'm a bit rusty on memory configurations but I'm pretty sure that there should always be memory installed in bank 1? Am I wrong? Will the PC still boot with no memory installed in bank 1? just hoping someone can clarify before I open her up to check inside and start messing around with memory modules.
Thanks and sorry for the lack of detailed info - I've literally just sat down in front of this machine.
Thanks, Marc.
