Evening Community:
So I've been building systems for decades, but in all that time, I've always matched my CPU/mobo and haven't run across needing a BIOS update. Anyway, I put together a new system tonight with some cobbled together parts, an i3-2120 and an older Biostar M61MGC motherboard I had laying around really just to test something.
The system powers on, the fans run, hard drives spin up (all the normal stuff that getting 12v and 5v power would do), but no USB power, no POST, no beeps, and no video. All the parts are previously good parts I can vouch for, there's no mobo shorts with standoffs, all that.
My assumption is that the mobo needs a BIOS update. Is this the normal symptoms for it? Amazing in 20-30 years I've never run across it, but yeah, there it is.
Thanks!
Don
