BIOS not detecting any of my hdd's or my ssd

Ok, so I will start from the beginning so you have all the info. A month or so back, I started to get disk read errors when I tried to boot my pc, it was hit and miss, sometimes it would boot fine, sometimes it would have the error. This then evolved into random freezes where everything would crash individually, then the pc would lock up and occasionally bsod. I couldn't find any answers so yesterday I reached the end of my tether and did a clean install of windows. Since then I had issues with my graphics card drivers which I already have a thread about here:

So I booted the pc up this morning, checked for windows updates, downloaded them and began the install, about 70% through I got a bsod:

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

After this bsod windows wouldnt load, so I tried to use the windows disk to reinstall/repair, but it did not detect the previous installation or drives. The computer would then reboot after about 53 mins. I assumed that my ssd may be bricked so went to the bios to switch to an hdd instead, but the bios detects nothing at all. No ssd, no hdd's. I have no idea where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciared.

I have been seeing similar issues lately. What type of motherboard and SSD do you have? I have reached the point that I am going back to HDDs since I keep having constant problems. Over a period of 2-4 months my boot time steadily increases until it finally will not boot at all. During this time, HDDs and SSDs in my system will disappear and reappear from Windows and sometimes BIOS. I have been told this can be a compatibility issue between my motherboard and type of SSD. The fact that you are having issues with GPU drivers would make sense in the case of failed hard drives, corrupted OS or a broken SATA controller.

If you cannot get your HDDs to show up in BIOS there could be a couple issues. You can try just having each HDD/SSD installed at a time and then check in BIOS to see if they will show up individually. If they do, then your SSD controller could be conflicting with your motherboard SATA controller and causing the drives to be non detectable. Something could have also happened that completely fried your SSDs/HDDs, if you have another system to test your drives on, that would be a good step as well. If all else fails, see if you can try a new drive on your motherboard, if nothing shows up then it could mean that your SATA controller on your motherboard could have been corrupted. I have been going through these steps myself. I have at this point replaced every piece of hardware in my system except for my SSDs and my motherboard. For me, I am down to those two options.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3, the ssd I am using is a Samsung 840 Evo 250Gb. So I think I have resolved this, though its prob just temporary. I went into the bios and it was still set to AHCI from my prev installation of windows, I changed this to IDE and suddenly my ssd and both hdd's started to show up again, which is odd as I see no reason they wouldnt at least show on AHCI although I could be completely wrong there. Anyway I have now re-installed windows and although it seems ok, it does seem to run slowly sometimes. I am planning on building a new pc in the next few weeks anyway and would like to use the SDD and HDD's that I currently have, is there anyway to find out if this was all caused by an issue with one of them?

You can run disk check to check for errors, but I think your drives are fine. It sounds more like it has to do with your SATA controller being set to the proper setting, but I don't see any reason why there would be an issue with AHCI mode unless one of your other drives is older. My motherboard recommends using IDE mode for my optical drive, AHCI for all my other SATA drives. If you have your manual, you could check and see if it has any recommended parameters on which mode to run your SATA ports on..

I see no issues with moving all of your drives to your new build, I am still using drives from 2007 in one of my builds.
