Hi everybody,

So here's the story. I turned my computer on fine and I took a nap and put my computer to sleep. After I woke up, I woke it up and the screen was the blue screen of death. I didn't even look at what was running, but I reset the computer immediately since that had worked before. After it reset, it said that "the current bios setting do not fully support the boot device."

I checked the boot priority and there was nothing in it. Can anyone help figure out why bios isn't detecting my HDD? I've already replaced the sata cable with a new one and that didn't change matters.

My mother board is Asus M5A97 R2.0 970
My HDD is a Seagate Barracuda 7200

Thanks for any help!

Hi there Teamrocketeer,

Unfortunately, it is possible that your HDD is dead.
After the HDD is not recognized by BIOS, you can do the following: change both SATA and power cables(make sure that both ends are properly connected) and connect the drive to another SATA port. If this doesn't work, then most probably your HDD has failed. It will not hurt to attach it to another system though.
If it is not recognized over there as well, you will need to contact a data recovery company in order to retrieve your data.
