Hey,
Up until a few days ago my hard drive was running perfectly fine. Suddenly, nada. I'm running an EVGA 750i Motherboard with Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB HDD. The post hangs on Sata detection for about 20 seconds on whichever Sata port I have it plugged into. The drive itself does spin up and stays spinning while the system is on; it also makes a sort of squeal when I turn the system on as if the arm were trying to do something. I've tried using different ports, cables, and power connectors but still nothing. My optical drive detects just fine, so I know it's not the power, the cable itself, or the mobo's ports. I figured it might be fixable since the thing still spins up. But I've had it for about a year so it would fit the timeframe for failing drives as per the user comments section of newegg. Also, there's no way to change the jumper setting as it runs standard without a jumper and never came with one. Any ideas if this is fixable or is the thing dead?
