BIOS not detecting USB above 4GB (or 2)

I need to boot off a USB for an OS, which is just above 4GB, so I was using an 8GB USB, which didn't show up on the boot menu in the bios. I figured out that a 4GB USB works, so I tried that, but then it doesn't show up anymore...so, what?! I'm very experience with this kind of stuff, but I've never seen anything like this before...

it could just be how old the mobo is or maybe the maufacturer didn't see it as a problem or overlooked it. but can be something that can be solved with a BIOS update

What os?
Windows usually under 4GB except win 10 32/64 bit disk
What format is 8GB usb.
fat 32 or ntfs may give different results

Check 8 GB is working properly in another pc as
They can stop working after a while
Format then test with h2testw software
Slow but thorough
