BIOS on Alienware 18

Hi forum,

I was wondering should I update my BIOS on my new Alienware 18 ? I am scared to do this as I heard many people updated their BIOS and their motherboard got bricked or some other problems arose.

The BIOS updates on the new Alienware 18 are as follows:

BIOS A02 update:

1. Update Intel GOP 5.0.1032.
2. Update Intel VBIOS 2175.
3. Modify load default behavior in Setup Menu.
4. Enhance secure boot function.
5. Enhance Panel information interface.
6. Update Microcode 306C3h Rev.09h.
7. Add New ROM part support.
8. Disable WLAN ASPM L0s.
9. Modify SATA configuration behavior for tool load default.
10. Add CMFC OEM Project Function.

BIOS A03 update:

1. Modify Fan table algorithm.

I don't really know what these updates mean or what they fix but is it worth to update it ? And more importantly is it safe ? 🙁 Any advice would be appreciated.

as long as you follow the update instructions word by word you should be safe...all these are minor revisions and bug fixes that are done with the knowledge base that grows with time. helpful in most situations
