Bios problem-2 new disc drives

My 2 disc drives in a Medion computer needed replacing. I used 2 IDE drives from an old computer, The computer will work if I switch both drives off,or if I undo the voltage plug of thr play drive. How do I change the bios to get both drives working? The RW drive is configured as master and the playback DVD drive as slave. The master is at the end of the flat cable.
