im trying to decide if I should update my bios or not, im using a asus b450m motherboard with a ryzen 7 1700x, and 16gb of 3200 MHz corsair dominator platinum ram. im not having any issues, I just heard its good to keep the bios updated.

BIOS updates can always come with improvements, patches, compabitility updates, and on the odd occasion, sometimes bugs.

When it comes to the BIOS, IMO, don't fix what isn't broken.
If you start encountering issues of some kind or need more compatibility, then update the BIOS, but until then, if there isn't a problem, I would say there's no need to change.

Also if you want to update your BIOS in the future be sure to do your research on the update see what problems people are having or if it is a stable update in general so you won't regret it later due to horrible bugs or something

I also think that when it comes to a BIOS if it works well for you and a newer BIOS doesn't add any features you really need then leave well enough alone.

^ So will I But until I actually own a Ryzen 3000 series CPU I will stick with my current BIOS.
My current BIOS works well and is the most stable version available for my MB, even though there are 3 newer versions available.

I went ahead and updated my bios no problems, but it was a huge update file took longer than 5 min to finish the update lol
