BIOS Recovery Flash won't save, keeps saying Bad Checksum, ASUS K8V Deluxe

I have an ASUS K8V Deluxe. After booting up, it keeps stating that the BIOS has a bad checksum and to insert a floppy or CD with a K8V.ROM file. I've tried several versions of the correct BIOS file on both floppy and CDs and it does find the file and programs the BIOS with it (so it is correct) and it asks to reboot but after reboot, it repeats this process, stating that there is a bad BIOS checksum and asks for the BIOS again.

I've replaced the battery with a new battery, I've cleared the CMOS, etc. I've done everything I've thought of and I have not found much on the internet exactly on this situation. Most are regarding flashing a working BIOS. I don't have that, I cannot boot into anything.

Do I have a bad BIOS chip? Should I buy a new chip?

Thanks for any help.
