BIOS screen messed up and windows won't post

Added new parts to an old build (6700k/asus z170-a mobo/16gb ddr4 ram). Everything was working fine, but the next day I kept getting constant bsod's (windows 10). So I bumped the vcore of my cpu to 1.325 and did a fresh install of windows 10 and everything was fine again. I started installing everything back and when I came back to check on things the screen was black. Tried restarting and windows wouldn't post so I checked out the BIOS and came across this http://i.imgur.com/AAUnZOf.jpg not sure if it's a mobo or cpu problem. I did update the bios before everything started happening and now I'm at a lost.

Did you try taking out cmos battery business to reset your bios settings?

Also, I wanna say that this looks like a PSU issue, but I've been wrong before. What PSU do you have?

If cmos doesn't work, and it's not PSU, I would say it looks like mobo.

I actually just did reset the cmos with no luck, bios screen still the same. I have a corsair hx 750w psu. It was running well on my old build so I'm not sure that could be the cause.

I would get in there, and start trying out old parts to isolate the issue, honestly. It'll take forever, but it's the best way to tell.

sounds like a bad bios flash or corrupted bios or a bad /buggy bios file from asus ? what did you use internet flash through windows ?? may if you can re flash the manual way with a usb pendrive then it maybe too late ??

why did you feel the need to flash to start with ??

Have you reset the CMOS? An alternative would be to unplug all USB devices as they may be causing the issue (it has done for me).

Well I updated the bios after I put everything together and installed windows 10. I pretty much went through the asus drivers list on their website and updated everything. Are you not supposed to update to the latest? I had the file on my hard drive and used that through the ezflash. I also tried downgrading using a usb stick and had no luck there as well.

edit: I did reset the cmos. Still the same. The only usb devices I have on it are keyboard and mouse atm.

or something you just added is having a compatibility issue I would remove the stuff you added and flash back to the last good bios you were using with out issue and then look things over on what may of been the cause if a added hardware

'' Are you not supposed to update to the latest? '' only time I update a bios is last ditch effort of a covered hardware compatibility issue like a unsupported cpu under the bios I got on it all rteady

bios flashing is at own risk and should not be done unless no other option or required [if it aint broken don't fix it kinda thing ] this board I'm on now is like 3 years old and still on its first release bios with out issue

If this will help here are some of the bsod messages I got before I did a fresh install. "Critical process died" "System service exception" "System thread exception not handled" "kmode exception not handled" I got all of these errors before my current fresh install and would happen right after a reset. Also I kept on getting this bsod when trying to install windows 10 "crypto library internal error". It didn't stop happening until I up'd the vcore on the cpu.

don't know its 10 ? that's the thing

you could download and burn a Linux iso and make a bootable dvd and un hook the win-10 hard drive and see how well it does under Linux to see if theres issue there as well ??

see where that gets you ?? if things look fine then it maybe 10 or the hard drive its on or something os related ?

just unhook the windows harddrive to insure it don't interfere with anything to test out how the Linux works

I tried installing windows 7 thru usb, but it won't go past the logo screen. The screen just stays black. I'll try swapping parts with a friends pc and try and find out what the problem is.

well yopu know win 7 usb is not really supported under skylake , right ?/

you have to add the tool to do the workaround and driver that's missing and all that stupid jazz [welcome to skylake and win-10 ]

try the Linux bootable dvd cant hurt and may find it fun to play around with if nothing else or keep it as a quick ready to go emergency os if or when needed [that's how I do ]

Just an update it was the cpu that was defected. Apparently it's really rare for a cpu to go bad but guess I'm unlucky. Thanks for the help/advice everyone.

I don't know ?? your like the 3ed guy this month I replied there posts to with a lemon skylake and not the first or i'll assume last ??

like you maybe should they rma'ed there chips and the replacements seemed to work
