Question My BIOS Settings are not saving ?

Yesterday morning, everything was fine, but today I can’t change any BIOS settings at all. When I disable Secure Boot, it automatically re-enables itself. When I change the boot order, save and exit, the changes are not saved. I have no idea what’s causing this issue.

I suspect that downgrading the BIOS version might fix it. However, on MSI motherboards, the “BIOS Downgrade” option is disabled by default, and even if I enable it, since that i can’t save the changes, making it useless.

When I try to downgrade using AFUWIN, I get the error: “18 - Error: Secure flash ROM verify fail”

Also tried to reset bios with little hole on the back of the laptop. I saw it resets csom so i tried but didnt really help.

I’m about to lose my mind. I’d really appreciate any help.

Processor- 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400H @ 2.70GHz 2.69GHz
Installed RAM- 24.0GB (usable: 23.7GB)
System Type 64-bit OS, x64-based processor / Windows 10
Graphics - RTX 3050 TI

Its a rebranded gaming laptop from MSI so i use MSI BIOS. I use the bios version from Katana GF76 series.

MSI motherboards
Apart from you mentioning it's an MSI board, what is the model of the motherboard you're working with?

I suspect that downgrading the BIOS version might fix it.
Downgrading can and will brick your board which is why motherboard makers always advise updating the board's BIOS, instead of downgrading it.

Also tried to reset bios with little hole on the back of the laptop.
Ah, so you're dealing with a laptop. Pass on a link to the model you're working with.

I dont think u guys would knew this brand not a common one. They rebrand laptops from msi's, downgrade some specs and make it cheaper.

In every forum, every post people solved this issue by downgrading. Im not a mechanic person to open the laptop and do some stuff. Im %100 sure ill break something and wont be able to fix it. So easiest way is give it a chance to downgrading.

My bios version is from MSI Katana GF76 because that was the match for my laptop.

Any suggestions ?
