[SOLVED] BIOS settings not saved

Hello there!
I recently got a used Lenovo u330p to test a few things with and I noticed that it was not able to save any settings I adjusted in the BIOS.
It also fails to boot UEFI flash drives from the boot menu.

I have replaced the CMOS battery already, which did not change anything.
What could be the reason? A friend suggested a partially corrupt CPU cache, is that possible?

Well, I fixed it. An old linux kernel was at fault, I fixed it by following this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1734147
