I'm trying to oc my i5-6600 (non k) by adjusting the bclk but whenever I exit the bios It restarts twice and its like none of my settings were applied. Everything is still saved in the bios when I go back to it. I have a z170a pcmate mobo.
The non-k is locked so increasing the base clock can only be done in minor amounts, for almost negligible effects. If you're suggesting that you don't feel as though you're getting a performance increase, it's because of this, it's a locked processor, and increasing the base clock will yield negigble improvements being as it can't really be changed much.
The procedures that were carried out in that article, were done with an MSI motherboard and, from a quick glance at the text, many of the tricks seem to be highly BIOS-dependent. You should not expect to be able to duplicate their results unless you are using IDENTICAL hardware.
