BIOS showing only half of RAM which was insalled

For my brand new PC I have a 4x2 (8 gigs) ram kit. It’s a Corsair vengeance plz at 3000 MHz. My mother board is the msi pro vdh B350m. When I plug my ram into the 1st and the 4th slots(as give. In the build video I saw) the BIOS came up but showed only 4096 mb(4 gigs) of ram. Can you guys help me out?

Make sure that the matched set of RAM is in the same color coded memory slots. Make sure that the memory is firmly installed and that the lever on the slot is all of the way up.

It may be necessary to reinstall the Ram sticks. If that fails, you can try moving the RAM to the other color coded memory slots (if available).


The problem is either a an installation problem, a defective memory slot, defective memory stick, or possible a problem with the memory settings.

If you have four slots, there is some method to indicate slots for matched memory sticks. Consult the motherboard manual.

If you are using 32bits upgrade to 64bits

Try undervolting your RAM Voltage. usually it can be found in Voltage Settings
