Hey guys,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to read this. I am not the most computer literate guy so i'll try make as much sense as possible. These are my current specs:

i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H (Intel Z77/ rev 1.0 Socket 1155)
Geforce GTX 960
8 gig DDR3 Ram
Thermal take 750 watt EVO-Blue Series PSU

Anyway, the problem I am currently facing is that ever since installing my new GPU (previous version GTX 560) as my computer starts it sits on the Bios screen which is unresponsive to keyboard commands, I can hear ticking in the tower which is a result of pressing keys on the keyboard. It seems to beep and reload about 3 times then goes ahead and loads into windows and runs perfectly without any problems (maybe a little sluggish?)

I have used the manual CMOS reset in an attempt to start my Bios but nothing happened.

My graphics card from what i can tell is secured properly with updated drivers and runs in games perfectly at the top settings with ease. I should mention prior to updating my graphics card I conducted Memtest86 and Prime95 stress tests with no errors.

Hoping someone could help me out with what I should do? I have read that I need to update the BIOS software but i would assume the only way to do that is to remove the GPU update BIOS and then put the GPU back in?

Thanks guys

The reference to updating BIOS may refer in fact to your motherboard, not your GPU - the latest version (F20e) for your board can be found here:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4153#bios

If your board is already at this level, then I'd suggest some basic fault finding tips. Remove all but one stick of RAM and any non essential peripherals (DVD drive, external HDD's or the like) and boot into your system. It may well be that you have some element that your motherboard is unhappy with, but its a matter of finding it.

If you reset you bios via the jumper on your motherboard.

In order to get back to the bios, or see the bios menu when the key on your keyboard is pressed to enter it.

You will have to move your video lead from the Pci-e based graphics card.
And connect it too the video output ports of the motherboard. Using either the Vga port provided on the motherboard, or the Dvi video output port.

You will then get a system posting readout, and when you press the key to enter the bios see the bios menu.

Go to the graphics options of your bios, Set the interface mode to Pci-e, or Peg mode.
save the changes made in the bios before you exit it.

Now swap the video lead from the motherboard and connect it back to the Pci-e based graphics card, and one of its video output
ports.

From then on posting of the system should be seen via the Pci-e based graphics card, and the bios will present it`s self each time you press the key on your keyboard to enter the motherboard bios settings.

Thanks for the responses guys. For anyone viewing this thread, the solution to my problem was to turn off power to the computer, remove the power cord, remove the GTX 960 GPU boot the computer using motherboard onboard graphics go onto gigabytes page and downloaded the latest bios for my select motherboard. I then had to load this onto a USB drive formatted (not quite sure on this, think i got lucky) then I restarted the computer, entered the bios and went into the flash option and used the bios update utility. After using this update I am no longer experiencing any problems. Thank you to everyone who answered.
