Using an alienware aurora r4 and I wanted to add an ssd, but when I plugged the drive in it was not showing up in the bios. I ended reinstalling windows on one of the other 500 gb drives, downloading a bios update to a11 and then it was detecting the ssd. I then wiped all three drives, downloaded Windows onto the ssd and everything has been fine. Now a few weeks later when I turned on the pc, the bios is not detecting the ssd again. I tried unplugging the ssd and using the cables from the cd drive, and I plugged it back into a different computer and the drive shows up so it isnt dead. I'm assuming it's the bios but I do not know why it stopped detecting it again or how to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the TH community, andrewsams!

You've done a great job with the troubleshooting so far! I'd recommend you to plug the SSD in a different SATA III port on your motherboard. It's possible that the port where the solid-state drive is currently connected has failed. Another thing that might help is resetting BIOS to its default settings.
Hopefully, that will make your primary SSD show up. Do you encounter any issues with the detection of any of your secondary HDDs?

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting! Best of luck!
