BIOS / UEFI 'Boot Menu' is black or pixelated when I move the cursor around

Just as the title states, my 'Boot Menu' in UEFI loads in as a black screen, and some of it uncovers as pixels if I move the cursor around, though the menu is unusable. The 'Setup' menu however works just fine. I have an ASRock Z97 Fatal1ty Killer motherboard. I got the motherboard brand new and just installed it about a week or two ago, but I don't remember this happening on the first place, though I may have not used the 'Boot Menu' at all after I first installed it.

Also, this may or may not be related to the same problem, but I am having trouble loading some web pages, even from different websites. It says "(failed) net::ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE" when I hover the "(failed)" red text. It looks like this:

Another thing that might be related to the websites not loading properly is that a few days ago my Windows time settings were not right, there was a big difference in hours, for example it showing an AM time, when it was the evening or afternoon. I had to sync the time multiple times for this to go away, by opening the date and time settings, and clicking 'update now' with time.windows.com

sounds like a corrupted bios file.

Try a clr_cmos (not familiar with that board you might have to look up how its done), see if you can't flash it with the latest bios as well.

Thanks it worked!

I cleared the CMOS using the jumper pins as well as removing and replacing the battery itself; these were both done before booting up the system. It asked me to go into setup to choose the time, and afterward when I started Windows the time was synced up correctly with the BIOS.

As for the website loading problem, I tried similar sites in Firefox and they seem to load fine. I'll have to look into this Google Chrome problem, and this is not the correct sub-forum to continue asking anyway.

As an IT student I feel silly not thinking of a simple solution like this, but the problem is I don't want to keep opening up my computer unless I think it could actually solve the problem (especially in my space where I have to actually sit and work on the floor that's carpeted). And a 'corrupted BIOS' is something I've never seen before. I guess this is a good thing because it's a learning experience for me.

well I work in IT and I never actually saw a corrupted bios like yours, so it was new for both of us.
