Hello, recently I have upgraded my laptop's (Lenovo Y500) 5400rpm hdd to a Samsung EVO. And it's going quite well. However, I'm using Legacy to boot. But many people say UEFI is better than Legacy but my BIOS won't recognize it when I change it to UEFI mode. Is booting in UEFI mode worth it? Or should I remain using Legacy?

Sorry for my bad English. I'm from Mongolia. And thanks in advance ^^

Solution
When you go to boot options, is there a UEFI word in front of the Samsung hard drive in the boot options?
I have the same problem with a DVD drive. I'm going to try it with a USB stick.

By the way, you write English about as perfectly as anyone here.

Thanks for the reply. 😀

I'm now a bit far from my laptop right now. I'll tell you as soon as I'm at home.
About the DVD drive I haven't had any problems. Actually I haven't used for at least a month now. (I used USB boot drive to clean install windows 8) I'll test it if it's working okay.

Update:

I've just checked my BIOS settings. No UEFI word in front of the Samsung hard drive. It only says "SATA HDD: SAMSUNG SSD 840 EVO 250GB"

Hello, I have heard that some windows OSs don't recognize GPT drives. And if I succeed in formatting it to GPT will it increase my boot time?

Thanks ^^
