Hello.

I have my heart set on a ryzen 5 3400g
for my dad.

Every motherboard I pick on pcpartpicker says I may need an older ryzen to update the bios. Is this a problem? Is there any motherboards that àre good to go?

Thanks.

The B450.... MAX boards from MSI are re-released of the non-MAX boards, and support the 3400G out of the box. https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/XJbCmG,BHBhP6,kRTzK8,6d9tt6/

However, lots of boards support BIOS flashing without a compatible CPU/RAM - like the TOMAHAWK. There is a "MAX" variant, but it's not yet for sale in a few areas.

ASUS et al have "BIOS flash" options too - just not 100% sure which ones off hand.

You should ask your dealer to update the BIOS on the motherboard or to order Boot kit from AMD.

On the second link, you can find motherboards which support flashing BIOS without memory or CPU.

They are maybe a bit more expensive, but safer to buy.

I dont think the max boards are for sale to my area from the internet. Although I have only checked one.

So if I get a boot kit or order a motherboard that supports flash bios im good? Just gotta update the bios?

Err wait so a boot kit + motherboard from the second link = success?
