Bios update gone wrong

So I have an MSI Z87 gaming mobo. Long story short is I went into the MSI download center and updated all my drivers and utilities. Everything worked fine until I tried to reboot my computer. I get a recovery screen stating my pc needs to be repaired because a required device isn't conected or can't be accessed. Error code :0xc0000000e

So my first thought is to enter BIOS see if my boot order got messed up if something isn't being detected etc. Then I notice my keyboard which is connected and powered through usb won't turn on when connected to the usb both on the motherboard and on the case. So I plug the usb into my laptop and the keyboard works just fine.

So.. any ideas? I'm completely out of them.

I don't have a quick answer, but there's a plethora of answers on google when you search 0x0000000e. Most suggest modifying boot files, or running a repair, or remove all external hardware. See what you come up with.

First off, never use any sort of vendor update program. Asus, MSI and Gigabyte all have "update" software, and they have reputations for being downright terrible. I had to perform a fresh install of my system after using Asus' "Live Update" utility.

So are you able to even get into the BIOS?

Yeah I figured I could just use MSI's update service.. Um no I am not able to get into BIOS at all. It boots right to a Recovery screen and the usb's don't seem to be powering any devices (keyboard) that would enable me to enter bios. I even tried just putting my installer disk in and it went to the same recovery screen. Everything was working fine 20 minutes ago..

So oddly enough I have had some very weird dealings with a MSI mother board and a USB keyboard (mechanical, not that I think that matters)

- When I first got my USB mechanical keyboard I plugged it in, and it wiped the CMOS and refused to boot until I unplugged the keyboard.
- Updated the BIOS with a PS2 keyboard and all seemed fine.
- Time goes by and I update the BIOS with the USB keyboard plugged in. All seemed to go OK, except all the sudden certain options could no longer be changed. It was like something got messed up during the flash.
- I called MSI and went through some steps with the tech, one of which was reflash the older BIOS which would not complete successfully. It would freeze and require killing the power. MSI recommenced sending the board in for repair.
- At this point I remembered the problems the USB keyboard had. So I disconnected the keyboard plugged in a PS2 keyboard, downgraded the BIOS them when back to the latest BIOS. Then plugged my USB keyboard back in and all was fine.

In general I've found some motherboards have issues with BIOS updates and certain USB keyboards. Unplug the keyboard, go to a PS2 keyboard, and then downgrade, and then upgrade the BIOS.

Near the 24 pin connector. Power off the power supply before switching.
