Trying to find cheap ISH mobo, for i5-3570,,OLD yes,but quite fast (quad),,faster than what I have anyway :)

So, asus says Ican 'flash bios' as ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM is only 2nd gen 1155, but 3570 is 3rd gen based on arkintel

Going to get: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-P8H61-M-LE-CSM-LGA-1155-Socket-H2-i3-i5-i7-COMPATIBLE-REV-3-0-Motherboard-/222390037192?hash=item33c77aaac8:g:X6sAAOSwImRYaWBV

Though page says 2nd/3rd gen, asus doesn't back that up, saying I'd have to do bios flash, are they right, and if so can I do from bios directly,,asus website mentions 32mb flash, meaning what :)

ty!

well your dealing with now obsolete stuff heck just look at like z97 or 9 series boards not many as there was of them and fixing to be goners as well

intel removes that older platforms as fast as they can to help insure you buy there hot new latest like for me skylake sucks and would rather build another solid tried and proven haswell and intel knows it and doing that just hurts there sales on there latest platform , they aint going to stand for that
Ask the seller what BIOS version is on the board, then look up which BIOS is needed for that CPU and if it's right, then the CPU is good to go.
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61M_LE/HelpDesk_CPU/
That CPU is supported on the P8H61-M LE R3.0 as of BIOS revision 4104. If that is the BIOS version, then no need to do anything extra, just install the CPU and enjoy.

Note: Just because something is older, doesn't mean it's obsolete, in fact that is especially true about CPU's from Core I series from the 1st gen on up.

Interesting, that listing says Rev 3.0 and I can find listings on Amazon for it, yet, I can't find it on ASUS website.

one thing for sure intem and there vendors did a good job of making 1155 obsolete

[blackbird ]
also that claims to be a rev 3.0 you show r2.0 ?? then I see stamped on the motherboard pic used it shows its a rev 2 ???

I think I would find another board with more clear to find and understand support and accurate overview / info on what it is your buying

and used from e-bay don't help on low risk of getting what you pay for

you see asus has a close to like board as rev 3 as well

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131724
but cant find it at asus support

thing is you do this and goof the wrong bios for the wrong board if you need to flash for any reason you may find yourself bricked and back to e-bay

now this one shows support for a 3570 -- Core i5-3570 (3.4G,L3:6M,iGPU,4C,VT-d,77W,rev.N0) ALL 4104

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61M_LE/HelpDesk_CPU/

It's an issue, neither match perfectly and ASUS doesn't seem to have anything about the P8H61-M LE/CSM Rev 3.0

I think I neglected to spot the 'K' as user above noted.

Is this going to be an issue..I"ve decided to get the -I instead of -M mobo as -I ,,,but anyway,,if 'std' 3570 vs -K won't work , then what.

I'm happy to call asus /ask vendor if no one is sure..

Hell of budget building :)( ( except for the i5 its hardly slow )

Is this the board you are looking to get?
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H61I/overview/

If, so, the board will need BIOS revision 0803, however, it does not list support for the 3570, just the 3570k as noted. While I don't think there is enough difference between the 2 to prevent it from working, there is no guarantee.

Ask the seller the BIOS version, and I suggest searching the net to see if anyone has the non-k working on that board. Or, pick a different board with guaranteed compatibility.

I think the confusion before was that you spoke of the -I, but then linked to the -M LE/CSM. Need to be sure it's matched up as you edited the post to do.

I'm surprised to see the confusion between these revisions, I've never had an issue with ASUS and I've used their motherboards, GPU's, monitors, bluetooth adapters and I'm even typing this post on an ASUS laptop.

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61M_LE/HelpDesk_CP... , thx, that one seems to be a match, at least '3570' is on cpu list, no K behind it..should be good right?

I know this seems like a lot of has hassle for old hardware, but the K , sadly, is for now outside my budget.

pitb ;)

the LE seems to be a solid fit .

I can see why now. Its a shame when you find a good fit with your budget, and can't find a mobo fit, old OR not.

ASUS seems to be the only mobo maker for this, nothing else comes up but ancient dell stuff -

' keep you buying new' > got it ;)
