Hi, i have an MSI H510M PRO-E and im about to do a bios update ( currently on version 1.1)

My question is if i mess something up or the power goes out, can i restore my bios settings or im i screwed? i read in the manual that it has something called "JBAT1" which is some kind of memory for bios or something, does that mean that this motherboard has Bios backup or dual bios? Is there anything i must know before i update it? Thanks guys

If you are not having any problems with your pc now, I would let well enough alone. Reviewing your bios updates, I see they are very specific updates. None of which improve performance. One update is for microcode security. If you don't have top secret plans on your pc you should be ok.

Im getting random Blue screen of death "Kernel Data inpage error", random pc crashes and reboots to a black screen, and windows is failing to create dump files, ive tried every solution at this point and nothing worked, so my last hope is a Bios update.

That is probably your ram, or virtual memory. You should troubleshoot the problem before going to bios update. What is your pc setup?

My specs:
- i3 10100F
-GTX 1650 Gddr6
-H510m pro-e
-16Gb ram 2666 mhz
-120gb SSD (for system)
-500gb HDD (for games)
-450W PSU
-Windows 10 Home.

I ran everytest u can think of, memtest, gpu and cpu stresstest, Sfc/Dism and Chkdsk tests, memory diagnostic, ssd and hdd health test, uninstalled and updated drivers, malware and virus test, fresh OS install, etc .. and nothing worked, all tests showed my hardware is ok.

Does this fix a failed bios update, or does it just reset bios settings and im screwed if it fails?
It may or may not work. Every circumstance is different. The chances of the power going out during an install are slim, except if you are doing this during a thunderstorm. Bios update is pretty straight forward. Just give it time to install it takes a while and may look like it is not taking. People get into trouble when they start hitting keys or doing something to pc while bios is installing. I would give it 5 minutes to install and reset before even looking at it.

I would also try using a new connection, and power connection for your hard drive. You can also try using one stick of ram and see if problem persists, and then try next stick after removing the prior stick. In search box type sysdml.cpl , then click on advanced tab, settings, performance options should open, click on advanced, under virtual memory click on change, make sure the box for AUTOMATICALLY MANAGE paging file system is checked, hit ok, apply. Restart pc and see if anything changes. You can use this to get to virtual memory and make sure the pc is controlling the virtual memory.
