My question is regarding bios update, wanting to install new usb 3.1 card. To get faster usb on my board. My Asus x99 pro was before usb 3.1 was released. There is now few three bios updates. I have been using the new Windows 10 technical preview build 10049.

My question is on updating my bios. Is it okay to update bios while using Windows 10, or should I downgrade back to Windows 8.1 that came with my pc first. I'm not sure if Windows version has impact on the bios, more how the hardware works on the motherboard. Second question, there has been three different bios updates since purchased the x99 pro with bios 1004. Can I install the latest bios update, without updating the other versions first. If wasn't obvious, never have done bios updates...EVER.

No impact if updating the BIOS using EZ Flash in BIOS.
