Hi all - I'm upgrading my CPU from a 2700X to a 5800X3D. I've been reading tons of different information on the order to update the bios version. I went from F5 > F32 (installed the EC FW Update Tool) > F64. No idea if it'll work this way yet as my new CPU gets delivered tomorrow.

I've read elsewhere that you're supposed to go F32 > F40 > F61 > F64. Did I do it wrong skipping F40 and F61? Also, why hasn't Gigabyte published clearer guidance on this? Super confusing as it doesn't seem like there's a consensus.

install EC FW Update Tool before updating the BIOS

just from F5 to F32 to F40 to F64
I had read another thread somewhere, not sure if it was here or Reddit, that said you can also go from F32 straight to F64, which is what I ended up doing. Am I going to have issues?

There was no caution written from Gigabyte using F64 from any version, so in theory F5 to F64 could have worked as well, but overtime people forget to write down text while programming new stuff. The warning was only relevant if you updated it with the Q-flash utility. But if it worked, it should not a problem.

So going from F5 to F32 to F64 did not work.

Just to make 100% sure, I ended up going back to F32, then to F40, then F61, F63A, and finally F64.

I learned the hard way that it's easier to install more bios versions than it is to swap a CPU and cooler twice.
