BIOS wont load windows 7 OS from SSD even though it's the only drive connected to the computer

Hi guys, first time writing on these forums. So I have a problem which is that my PC was working fine until recently when I used a live linux CD, to boot into this I changed my BIOS boot order from HDD to DVD/CD. When I decided to switch back to using windows again recently I obviously re-changed the boot priority to HDD, however now it won't load into windows 7. It recognises the drive which has the OS on it - which is set to priority boot drive - but instead of loading I get the error "Loading operating system... DISK BOOT FAILIURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" I have disconected all other drives so that the SSD is the only drive that is detected by BIOS. I have also checked to see if the files on the drive are still readable, using a live linux distro again. As far as I can see the drive is fully intact. I've also tried messing about with other BIOS settings a bit, which probably caused more harm than good... I'm currently creating a windows recovery drive to test futher. Anyway, I'm confused so any help would be much appreciated, thanks, Jack Hudson.

Try just running Windows startup repair. Could be the boot sector got tweaked, MBR, or a variety of other issues. Just out of curiosity what were you using the Linux live DVD to do? Perhaps that'll point you in the right direction.

I was just testing out different linux distributions to see if I like them, the dvd actually comes from a linux magazine. Still trying to create a windows USB recovery, using the create recovery drive option from windows 10 laptop. Not sure if this is best or just creating a bootable windows 7 USB.
