bios wont recognise cdrom

Have just installed new motherboard and components but realised old ide cd rom drive wont fit the new asus board. So I used a ide to sata adapter, cd rom now powers on and opens but bios doesnt see it. I need to install win 10 using it. Anybody know why this is?

Try different settings for Master/Slave/Cable Select on the drive. CS(Cable Select) usually works best.

Thanks just tried what you suggested but still isnt recognised. Have got hold of an external sata cd room drive and installed. Still doesnt recognisd old drive in win 10 though
