bios

can anyone help
i want to upgrade my motherboard bios, but my floppy drive is broken so i need another way to bypass himem and emm386 so that i can get to a prompt to run my bios upgrade software, i am currently running windowsME

Why don't you just pick up a new floppy drive.
I think they are between $5 to $15.

Ah, so that's what you're wanting to do. I must have misread your post over at the HardOCP message board.

Try inserting a WinME or Win98 install CD (assuming you have a bootable one) and hold down the shift key. That should get you a command prompt with no himem or emm386.

i got it sorted thanks
new bios version, still no cpu voltage above 1.90v

Save teh bios to your C: drive along with your flash utlity.

During boot use the "F8" or "F10" (i forget which) and that will prompt how to start. Goto dos prompt.
