Hello,
My Dell 1545 laptop will not boot. After diagnostics it says it does not find the hard drive. i was told it could possibly be the back up battery.

Where do i find that ???like a watch battery -

Run a hard drive test in DOS...HIRENS CD etc, it sounds like a failing hard drive...

If your running the Bios Diag and it can't find the hard drive then there a good chance (like 90% unless you have been messing with the phyicall hardware) that the HD gone bad. You can also open it up and check for loose connectors depending on the model normally those thing kinda slide and "lock" into place.
