Bioshock Infinite Horizontal screen tearing on a 144hz monitor!

Hi,

I recently bought an ASUS VG248QE 144hz monitor with the high expectations that I would never experience screen tearing again. Well I have been playing Bioshock Infinite recently and with vsync off in both the Nvidia control panel and off in the game graphics settings I still get some noticeable screen tearing. I am running at the highest graphics settings and my framerate varies between 80-144 fps (I have set a frame rate limit of 144 in MSI afterburner thinking it might help with the tearing).

My build is as follows, does anyone have any recommendations? I searched around on the web before posting this, and it seems like screen tearing on a 144hz monitor is pretty rare...

AMD FX-8320 Overclocked to 4.5 Ghz @ 1.45 Volts
Corsair H80i CPU Cooler
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1490 core, 8000 effective memory) (Latest Nvidia Driver)
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 @ 8-8-8-24
Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Mobo
Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB SSD
WD Black 1 TB HDD 7200 RPM
NZXT Phantom 410
CORSAIR CX600M PSU

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I do not have an answer, but I do have a reason. Screen tearing occurs when your GPU outputs frame rates any other than the rate at which your monitor refreshes. This means that technically, screen tearing will occur whenever you have an FPS other than that of 144. I am looking for a monitor myself and am in the process of trying to avoid such a problem. Best of luck!

Why would there be any tearing on a 144hz monitor? Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the whole point of 144hz was so that your frame rate would stay under the monitors refresh rate, even at high frame rates.

My budget at this point is unfortunately $0. Second year engineering student, and I bought the VG248QE because it was on sale for $205 and my aging Viewsonic monitor was dying on me 🙁

Try reinstalling the GPU drivers. You might have a spoofed version of the game, so try reinstalling it, but BACK UP YOUR GAME DATA! Hope I could help!

I just recently installed the most up to date drivers for my GPU, 347.52.

My game version is not fake, I bought it directly off steam.

Thanks for trying to help anyways.

I have tried enabling v-sync. Doesn't help.

What bugs me is that the screen tearing is limited to Bioshock Infinite alone. I have played around with the settings on witcher 3 and tested it at 70-144 fps and it always feels and looks smooth. No tearing at all. Bioshock infinite tears all over the place...

To be honest I no longer play Bioshock Infinite. Look how old this thread it, I moved on months ago. I appreciate the offers for help but its not necessary anymore. Is there a way to close the thread?
