Hi All,

Just wanted a second opinion. I'm looking to add an SSD to my current PC being a student on a bit of a budget and can't afford a complete upgrade.

Just wanted to know if my current motherboard (Biostar p4M800 M7) will support an SSD. I know obviously with it having older sata ports (1.5gb I believe), I wont get anywhere near the top end read/write speeds. Just a tad worried as I have read that some older motherboards do not support SSD.

My system specs are :

M/B: Biostar P4M800 M7
CPU: p4 HT 3ghz (prescott)
GPU: nvidia geforce 7600 GS
memory: 2 gig ddr

The SSD's I am looking at are:
*Sandisk SDSSDP-064G-G25

Kingston SV300S37A/60G

Ultimately wanted to know if these SSD's are compatible with my current set up and will work.
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, was unsure of which forum to post in.

Cheers

Sweet cheers. In regards to speed im currently running a maxator 7200 250 gig SATA HDD. Will the SSD make much of a difference over what I currently have.?

Main reason for upgrading is give it a substantial speed boost until I can afford to build a new rig over the summer.

Its best to set the SSD as your main OS boot drive, and the HDD for storage. You will only get a slight speed boost.
