[SOLVED] bitlocker bypass

Hey,

So my girlfriend her laptop crashed and the repair shop wasn't able to repair her computer so I told them to recover the Nvme m.2 ssd.
After that I bought a external hub for the nvme drive and after I plugged it in it asked me for the 48 digit Bitlocker recovery key.
Of course her previous laptop wasn't able to be repaired so there was no way to recover it that way.

Is there a way to bypass the bitlocker key?

No. There is no way to bypass. You need the recovery key.

Isn't there a way to prove she is the owner of the previous laptop via her account settings and the user settings on the drive?

When you first use bitlocker, it creates and gives you the 48 digit Bitlocker recovery key for safe keeping/offline storage. If your GF didn't keep it stored elsewhere, your hooped.

i have not tried to do it myself but i believe it is stored by MS as part of the ms account. not sure if they keep it for recovery purposes or just so they can snoop further on your pc. but i do recall reading it was uploaded.

this seems to verify it is in there. lots of hits on a quick google search so it seems possible

Without it, in some form, there is NO bypassing the requirement.
