BitLocker Drive Encryption Service can I disable

Just playing around and seeing how many services I can disable on windows 7 home premium 64 bit, but not sure about BitLocker Drive Encryption Service.

It shows up as a service on my system but my understanding is that it does nothing as home premium is not able to use it. Is this correct?

The BitLocker service is set to manual and will not run unless called upon. Since you are not running a version of Windows that supports BitLocker the service will never run, so disabling it will serve no real purpose and have no effect on your system.
