Laptop had a Motherboard go bad. I having bitlocker issues.

Issue 1: When connect the drive to my computer to decrypt it I get this message. "there are no supported protectors on this drive the drive cannot be unlocked"

Issue 2: When I run CMD as admin and try manage-bde -protectors -get e: I get this message. " ERROR: An attempt to access a required resource was denied. I also get the same error when I try manage-bde -status e:

Issue 3: When I put the drive in a new computer and boot it up to get the identifier I get prompted for the pin. When i put the correct pin it in get this message. "There was a Problem" It looks like something didn’t load correctly. Restarting might fix the problem. If this happens more then once, you might also be able to find help by searching online for the specific error code: 8007139f

I looked up that code and found this answer: This error code (commonly associated with Windows Update issues) can indicate problems with the BitLocker PIN or a corrupted protector.

Anyone have anything else I could try? I need to get the identifier so I can find what recovery key belongs to this laptop

Seeing a different motherboard is exactly what BitLocker is supposed to protect against.
Removing the drive, and accessing it on a different system.

You changed the board, so its different. Just like a different PC.

1. You should have had the BL key documented somewhere, before this happened.
2. You should have had an unencrypted full drive image saved somewhere, before this happened.

If the BL key is not documented somewhere in your MS account, there probably is no way to access that drives current contents.

I am a repair shop and this is a customers computer. The customer had a MSP that manages the compnays bitlocker and they need the identifier so they a located which key it is. This is not my computer I am just the repair tech that was assign this job. Yes i know putting the drive in another motherboard it will not boot but when it trys it ask for the recovery key and shows the identifier.

You should not assume this is my fault, and lecturing me about this.

And entering the proper BL key fails?

All we out here can go on is the info you give us.

There is no place to put in the recovery key. Windows says there is no protector where you would normally put in the key. When I put the drive in a different motherboard it only asks for the pin and when the correct or wrong pin is put in it just reply's with an error and no where to put the key. When I try to use manage-bde any command I use on that drive I get ERROR: An attempt to access a required resource was denied.

I contacted my contact at Gilware and they said "My guys said there is a good chance we can recover all of the data. They are confident that they have some ways around this. Can I send you a free shipping label to get it sent in?"

So im hoping before my customer pays $1200 someone know something else I can try.
