okay so i left for work today and was running late when i went to shut down my computer and accidentally clicked restart as its right under it i didn't want to wait for the startup and shut it down again (being impatient) and shut it down through the power button. When i booted it up my screen (1600x900) was stretched and i have a black bar on the top of my screen and the right side is stretched to where i cant see date time ect at the bottom right corner. I adjusted it to 1600 x1024 and it maps my whole screen but the text is blurry i know its not supposed to be here and i don't want to keep it here. I went into BIOS and updated that, went into Nvidia control center and tried adjusting the aspect ratio but it didn't do anything. And when i reset the display to default it said my native was 1600 x 760 and i know that's not it, it looks messed up. Please help!

also from what ive been reading i need to change the size under the size tab in the nvidia control center under change display but i dont see it all i have is this http://prntscr.com/audj3k

Specs
GPU: EVGA GTX 960
Display: Gateway FHX2300

Solution
You want your resoultion to be 1920x1080. anything else is going tolook all weird and stretched, especially with the weird non-standard resolutions you were picking.

1920x1080 looks really weird i know my native is 1600x900 ive been using it forever. I only chose 1600x760 because i can actually see all of my screen it just looks blurry and distorted and in the nvidia control panel 1920x1080 is not even on there i know thats not it, the highest is 1600x1200 and that looks weird too

i really appreciate you replying and trying to help i just dont think im getting something. Your saying i have a 1920x1080 monitor but i went into my monitors display settings and it said to use 1600x900. The quality looks fine on 1600x900 but its not snapping on my computers borders like it normaly does, not enough on top, too wide on the right side
i think my aspect ratio is not the one it should be but i dont know how to change it

okay yea i dont think its the same one like i googled gateway monitors because im not even sure what it is i bought it in like 07 and havnt had any problems when i googled it, the one i posted looks exactly like the one i have. And im connected through VGA from my GPU to monitor

heres a pic of it http://prntscr.com/aue5zn sorry for shitty quality but the left and bottom are fine just the right and top are messed up

hey i fixed it! uninstalled graphics drivers and reinstalled it was the GPU not display settings. Can't believe it was something that simple im pissed at myself for not doing it earlier especially because i go to college for computers.. but anyway i really appreciate you replying and taking the time to help me you were the only one. People like you are the reason i go to Toms Harware for fixes, cheers!

It's okay! Thank you!
