black borders around some games.

when i use my hdmi cable for some games like civ beyond earth and payday 2 there are about 1.5 inch borders of black that aren't being used the problem is resolved when i use dvi. anyone know the problem with the hdmi cable?

Open your video utility ("AMD Catalyst Control Center" or "Nvidia Control Center") and adjust the overscan settings.

theres on black borders in other places just games and i don't know what to do in AMD control center i've already scaled it so my desktop doesn't have the borders.
