I just got my pc started up after bringing it back from college. I took all the components off the motherboard and the hard drives out at one point if that could cause anything. It turns on fine, goes to the lock screen, I log in, then it goes to a black screen with the cursor and a small window marked "Personal settings (not responding)". While it's like this I can bring up task manager and see all my normal startup processes running, then after a moment it will BSOD with the error "PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA". I also started it in safe mode and everything worked fine. I could run networking, open steam, etc. I ran disk check on both my disks and neither reported any errors. I don't have any recovery points so that's not an option. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounding like a RAM problem to me. Try removing all but one stick of ram and then start running MemTest86 on it. Give it at least several hours. If no errors appear, remove that stick and replace with another one and run MemTest86 again. Repeat for each ram stick and remove any that generate errors, as they are defective.

I have 2 sticks and I tried starting up with each separately, same error. I don't have a usb or cd so I can't use memtest, but I did use the windows memory diagnostic and it didn't find any errors on either of the sticks. Any other ideas?
